Without Hesitation

In the parable of the prodigal son, we see one of the most beautiful pictures of how God sees us despite our failures. When the wayward son finally came to his senses and started the journey home, his father didn't wait for him to arrive. The father ran to meet him, embraced him, and immediately began restoring his position in the family.

Notice what the father didn't do. He didn't lecture his son about his poor choices. He didn't make him prove his repentance through a probationary period. He didn't focus on the mistakes or the wasted inheritance. Instead, he saw his son - not the failure, but the beloved child who had come home.

This is exactly how our heavenly Father sees us. When we turn toward Him, even from a distance, He runs to meet us. He doesn't see our past mistakes; He sees His beloved children coming home. The moment we start moving in His direction, we become worthy of His embrace, His restoration, and His celebration.

The father in the parable immediately clothed his son with the finest robe and put a ring on his finger - symbols of authority and belonging. This wasn't earned through good behavior; it was given because of relationship. The son's identity wasn't based on his performance but on his position as a beloved child.

Perhaps you've been living like the prodigal son, feeling distant from God because of choices you've made. Maybe you think you need to clean up your life before you can approach Him. But this parable teaches us that God's love isn't conditional on our perfection. His arms are open, and He's watching for your return.

The question isn't whether you're worthy of God's love - you are. The question is whether you'll accept His invitation to come home.
