Following the Star of Faith
Monday
'Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him."' - Matthew 2:1-2
Have you ever felt a stirring in your heart that you couldn't quite explain? A sense that God was calling you toward something, even though you couldn't see the full picture? The wise men experienced this exact feeling when they saw a star appear in the sky. Unlike Mary, who received a clear message from an angel, or the shepherds, who witnessed a heavenly choir, these men had only a single star to guide them. Yet they chose to follow it.
Their response reveals something profound about faith. They didn't wait for a detailed roadmap or a guarantee of success. They simply saw something that stirred their hearts and decided to pursue it. This is often how God works in our lives - not through dramatic revelations, but through gentle nudges, quiet whispers, and unexplained stirrings that draw us toward Him.
Perhaps you're experiencing that stirring right now. Maybe it's a desire to know God more deeply, to serve others, or to make a significant life change. Like the wise men, you might not have all the answers, but you have enough light to take the next step. Faith doesn't require perfect vision; it simply requires willingness to follow the light you've been given.
The beautiful truth is that when we respond to God's gentle promptings with faith, He provides more guidance along the way. The wise men's star didn't reveal their entire journey at once, but it gave them enough light for each step. God works the same way with us today.
Here's what the wise men had. They had a star. A star just showed up.
Reflect: What 'star' might God be using in your life right now to draw you closer to Him, and how are you responding to that gentle stirring in your heart?
Prayer: Lord, help me to recognize the ways You're calling me forward, even when I can't see the complete picture. Give me the courage to follow Your leading with faith, trusting that You will provide the guidance I need for each step of the journey. Amen.
