The Power of Praying Together
Thursday
'Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.' - Matthew 22
Prayer is one of the most intimate acts a couple can share, yet it's often the most neglected aspect of marriage. When husband and wife pray together regularly, they invite God into the center of their relationship, creating a bond that goes beyond physical or emotional connection—it's spiritual intimacy at its finest.
The statistics are remarkable: couples who pray together regularly have less than a 1% divorce rate. This isn't because prayer is magic, but because it transforms hearts, changes priorities, and keeps couples aligned with God's purposes. When you pray together, you're reminded that your marriage is bigger than just the two of you—it's a reflection of Christ's love for the church.
Prayer changes everything. It softens hard hearts, brings perspective to problems, and invites God's wisdom into daily decisions. It reminds couples that they're on the same team, fighting for their marriage rather than against each other. If you want a 99% chance that your marriage will last, the answer is simple: pray together.
Of those couples that do pray together on a regular basis, less than 1% of those marriages end in divorce.
Reflect: How might regular prayer together transform the dynamics of your current or future marriage?
Prayer: Father, teach us the power of praying together. Help us make prayer a priority in our relationship and use it to draw us closer to You and each other.
